But then if you die with vampire blood in your system you become a vampire so it's kind of a crapshoot sometimes.

Yeah

We got into a car accident and it was really bad, I almost died, maybe was dying. Then suddenly I was healing and they were going to release me from the hospital and before I could leave alive Katherine smothered me with a pillow.

Was she aware of the vampire's blood that coursed through you at the time?

[highlyemotional]

Yup.

And she still callously abandoned you.

I know the feeling all too well.

Did it happen to you?

In a sense.

After he gave me the gift, my maker killed himself by fire right in front of me.

Yes, it had quite an effect on me for many years after.

I wish Katherine would leave me alone.

[ maybe it is callous considering his own turning but. well, she's an honest creature. ]

Who taught you how to be a vampire?

Well, she's not here now, is she?

Largely self-taught, for many years, which led to many hard lessons. When I met Armand, I admittedly learned much from him before I took my leave of him.

What do you wish you had learned earlier?

It took the guidance of another to hone my abilities as a vampire, particularly ones that were unique to myself.

Not all have the cloud gift, for instance. Flight.

[ they have such a pretty (pretentious) way of naming things. the dark gift, the cloud gift. ]

I can't fly. I don't think any of us can.

You likely have other gifts that are your own. Other skills you can develop, with the right training.

I'm really good at compulsion!

Compelling another to do your will? That is an enviable gift among vampires, and requires quite a strong mind.

[ the rush of pride she feels blooming in her chest should be concerning but it isn't often that people tell her she's strong. ]

I did it by accident when I first woke up.

Most power manifests unexpectedly, at least the first time. I imagine you've had some opportunity to be more purposeful with it since.

Oh yeah, I got really good at it repeatedly compelling my mom to forget I'm a vampire. But she's over it now!

[perfectionner]

She overpowered the compulsion, or she learned the truth?

[highlyemotional]

I was compelling her to forget but then my stupid ex boyfriend Matt found out (because I SAVED HIS LIFE) and he told her and they both took vervain which is this herb that messes with my compulsion and then pretended to be compelled so I wouldn't find out

But then my dad tortured me and my mom remembered I'm her daughter first and a vampire only incidentally.

It is difficult for loved ones to understand that things will be different after the turning. They will grow old and you will remain unchanging by the passage of time. Your mother cares for you as her daughter, but there will be confusion for her, perhaps even resentment.

You are not alone here, much as other vampires would behave otherwise.
